Where we discuss finance in about the time it takes to make a bag of popcorn

Mar 14, 2022

On today’s episode, we are talking about the impact of the Child Tax Credit expansion by the Biden administration in 2021. This expansion expired at the end of December 2021, so today I want to talk about the impact this credit had on families, along with the loss of this credit.

To do that, I have Leigh Phillips joining me. Leigh is the CEO of Saverlife, a nonprofit that uses data and technology to help members save money, along with pushing for better policies and a more just economic system across the country. Leigh and I discuss how the Child Tax Credit provided stability for families, including creating stabilization of savings accounts. We also talk about how Saverlife is tracking what other impacts these monthly payments have had on families, along with the impact of losing this child credit, which they will continue tracking over the next several months.
